The Bat! 4.2 – wide range of new scheduling options
RITLabs made The Bat! users happy by introducing postponed sending – a new useful feature that is meant to help in cases when the correspondence delivery must be delayed for a certain period of time. We've created a user guide in order to get our users acquainted with the new option. So, here it is.
The Bat! 4.1, or There and Back Again
This guide is written for the users whose license key works with The Bat! versions 3.x - 4.0.38, but does not work with the new versions starting with 4.1.
Submission Forms
Using The Bat! email program, one can carry out protected data transmission between many computers.
This method of communications is used for implementing various tasks such as client-bank system, tax accounts collection, requests of the sales outlets to warehouses, etc.
The Bat! RSS-aggregator
RSS channel (or RSS feed) is a resource on the web-site that shows a certain number (5, 10, 20, 50, 100) of the site’s most recent news (files, articles, themes, replies, etc.). Unlike email delivery, time factor is vital here – if a site has 10 news per day and its RSS shows only 10 recent news, then you aren’t able to get yesterday news through RSS.
How to create a toolbar, which helps to switch languages quickly.
Let's say you need to switch spellchecker languages in a more convenient way, either by having separate language buttons on a toolbar or by pressing some specific hotkeys. Normally to do this you have to press the Spell Checker/Language menu items and select the language you need.
Folder tabs
You can activate Folder tabs under the "View/Folder tabs" menu. They will appear at the bottom of the account/folder tree.
Test Filters
If you select a message and open the context-menu, you will find the "Test Filters" option. This was specially created to "take a look ahead" at which filter will trigger on a particular message. So, let's take a random message and perform a filter test
Handy keyboard combinations
If you prefer to work using your keyboard only or your mouse has ceased to function properly, then, for example, you can scroll the text of a message up/down by pressing the ALT + up/down keys.
Manual Re-threading
What does one need this for? Say you have got used to sorting your messages by threads: "View/View threads by/References (standard)" – this is quite handy, messages that have something in common are all in one place.
SmartSpace
Everyone knows what the "space" bar is, but not everyone knows that it can jump from one unread message to the next unread one across folders and accounts. We called it simply SmartSpace. In order to get it working it is necessary to enable the "Go to the next unread message with the SmartSpace reading" menu item under the Options/Preferences/Messages menu.
Menu Navigator
Menu Navigator is one of The Bat!'s many powerful features that allows you to travel to a required menu, even though you have forgotten where it is! So, let's begin at the beginning. You can both enable and disable the Menu Navigator under Options/Preferences/General - "Display Menu Navigator button on the Caption Bar".
Creating a filter in just several key strikes (CTRL+SHIFT+F)
All the message filtering in The Bat! is performed by the Sorting Office (under the Account menu). There you can create different filters which will carry out a whole range of actions with your messages. The easiest way to understand and remember something is an example. So, let's take a look at one of them.
