The Bat! v6.4 Email Client Adds Advanced Tools for Managing RSS-Feeds

Manage news and events subscriptions right in email

Chisinau, Republic of Moldova – With the newest version of its popular email client The Bat!, Ritlabs, SRL turns its email client into a customizable personal information center.

The Bat! 6.3 supports subscriptions to individually chosen RSS feeds. Users can subscribe to an RSS feed and have the news delivered directly to their email inbox without the need of a third-party RSS reader. The feature means The Bat! users can get the latest news and posts from their subscribed websites, blogs and forums delivered and organized to save time.

“We are always eager to save our users time,” said Maxim Masiutin, who is CEO of Ritlabs, SRL “The Bat! already allows experienced users to handle large volumes of email efficiently. Now that same utility extends to RSS feeds with the ability to view, sort and categorize subscribed information in one simple list.”

The Bat! users need no additional programs or plugins as opposed to browser-based solutions. RSS feeds are displayed in the same program window alongside emails in summary format or full text. Users can mark items as read/unread, delete them, park or flag them as they do with regular emails.

Subscribing to an RSS-feed is simple. Copy the feed’s URL, choose the RSS menu in the program and paste the link. The Bat! will then periodically fetch news in addition to updating subscriptions at startup. By default The Bat! checks feeds for updates every ten minutes and marks them as read when viewed for longer than two seconds. Options such as “Empty Trash folder on exit” or “Compact all folders on exit” keep the mail data size as small as possible. These options can be customized by the users according to their needs.
