Error connecting to Google IMAP account

Error connecting to Google IMAP account in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
OK,

works now - after re-typing the password

but still doesn't understand this - maybe someone can explain it?

=====

During the setup in Bat I got the window:

"Additionally, you need to log on to <noindex>www.gmail.com</noindex>, enter your login and password, "invoke "Forwarding and POP" and then in the POP Download: section tick "Enable POP for all email"."

Why? What does "Forwarding and POP" mean? I've thought I'm using IMAP? Why also POP3 (in which way)?

I've visited the settings and selected "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)" and saved (and kicked out of the settings).

After that I've visited the settings again and this option is not selected anymore!

1. Why? Is this a Google GUI bug?

Thanks a lot
Robert
Hi,

I've created a new email account myuser@gmail.com as IMAP account (POP3 enabled) - with the browser GUI works without any problems.

After that I've created the IMAP account normally with Bat 5.0.18 but I can not connect (receive messages by clicking GET NEW MAIL):

---

During the setup in Bat I got the window:

"Additionally, you need to log on to <noindex>www.gmail.com</noindex>, enter your login and password, "invoke "Forwarding and POP" and then in the POP Download: section tick "Enable POP for all email"."

I've visited the settings and selected "Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)" and saved (and kicked out of the settings).

After that I've visited the settings again and this option is not selected anymore!

1. Why? Is this a Google GUI bug?

---

After that I've tried to receive an email in Bat and got the error - here is the log:

2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - Connecting to IMAP server imap.gmail.com on port 993
2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - Initiating TLS handshake mydomain.com (IMAP)
>2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - Certificate S/N: 68D3EE1B0003000022B2, algorithm: RSA (1024 bits), issued from 2011-02-16 04:43:04 to 2012-02-16 04:53:04, for 1 host(s): imap.gmail.com.
>2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - Owner: US, California, Mountain View, Google Inc, imap.gmail.com.
>2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - Issuer: US, Google Inc, Google Internet Authority.
>2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - Root: US, Equifax, Equifax Secure Certificate Authority
2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - TLS handshake complete mydomain.com (IMAP)
2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - Connected to IMAP server (imap.gmail.com)
>2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - Gimap ready for requests from <myip> o14if4058462eeb.86
2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - Authenticating (user: "myuser@gmail.com", method: "LOGIN")...
!2011-07-24, 11:20:45: IMAP - authenticate failure: unsupported authentication mechanism, credentials rejected
2011-07-24, 11:20:50: IMAP - Disconnected mydomain.com (IMAP)

My settings within Bat:

SEND:
=====
Server: smtp.gmail.com
Connection: Secure to regular port (STARTTLS)
Port: 587
Authentication: Selected is:
- Perform SMTP Authenticaton (RGC 2554)
- Same user/password as for Mail Retrieval

RECEIVE:
========
Server: imap.gmail.com
User: myuser@gmail.com
Connection: Secure to dedicated port (TLS)
Port: 993
Authentication: Selected is:
- Regular

2. What's wrong? Why can't I receive/connect e-mails by using all "defaults"?

3: Are the SEND options ok or will I expect also errors?

Thanks a lot,
Robert
