Gmail or Thunderbird-like tags

Gmail or Thunderbird-like tags in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
Hmm, nope, looks like the Memo idea doesn't work the way I really want. I can create a filter to set a Memo on incoming mail, but that's all it does: it SETs a memo. It won't ADD to it. So if I set up 2 filters, one to set "Tag1" and one to set "Tag2", only one of those memos will be attached to the email. What I want is something like Thunderbird's labels, where you can have any (reasonable) number of labels on an email at once. TBird's filters handle this correctly.

So I guess I'm back to waiting to see if The Bat ever adds this.
Yes, I mean Labels. Sorry, they're called Tags in Thunderbird, so that's the term I used.

I've found in the meantime that an old suggestion, to use Memos, works, but it's very awkward to use, and isn't nearly as convenient as Labels are in Gmail or Tbird. The main problem is that the Memo view is a separate window and doesn't seem to behave very well.

Oh, well. I guess I'll probably hold off on upgrading until or unless Labels are implemented. Thanks for the answer, Marek.
if You mean Labels, yes, they are planned, but I do not know when.
I asked about this before for v4, and now that v5 is out, I'm wondering about it again. Will The Bat! ever have a tag feature like the kind in Gmail or Thunderbird? That is, I'm looking for the ability to:
1) Define custom tags. For example, "Close friends" or "Family", or anything else I want.
2) Be able to mark an email with one or more tags. If I receive an email from one of my close friends, and it CC's people in my family, I'd want to tag that email with both "Close friends" and "Family".
3) Be able to search for all emails with a particular tag or combination of tags.

There is currently no easy way to search for emails from a particular person in The Bat!, if that person uses, or has used, many different email addresses. I can search for all the possible email addresses, but this requires me to remember all of them. If there is a tag system, then it's true that I still have to go through and tag emails, but once they are marked, it will be incredibly easy to find all emails with a tag.

I'm contemplating, again, switching from TB! to Thunderbird. There are things about TB! that I like more, but the ability to tag emails, and the much better handling of HTML mails and languages in general, are making it harder and harder to stay with The Bat!
