OK to use The Bat! under Win7 x64? in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I've been using The Bat! since v3-ish and I've migrated my email across 3 netbooks: one running winxp sp2 with 512mb ram swap file disabled (which is a true testament that it's very memory efficient, since I was running it, opera, putty, total commander and a couple of emulators in parallel and very rarely I would run out of ram), one running winxp sp3, and my latest which runs win7 home premium 64-bit. Barring some slight issues that were fixed, I have never ever encountered such tragic problems as people report on this forum. The issue reported <noindex>here</noindex>? Nope, never happened. All I had to do is install The Bat! from a fresh download and then copy my mail folders from the old netbook to the new before running it. Either I'm doing it right and they are doing it tragically wrong or I'm just plain lucky

====quote====
I guess I am one of a small minority of satisfied users who bothers to post and say that they don't have problems but I assume that the satisfied represent the vast majority users. If this were not the case, then the forum would be inundated with complaints.
=============

It's my guess that there is a big silent majority that never encounters any problems with The Bat! and never feel an urge to say so compared to the minority that saying "The Bat! is shit" every time they manage to screw something up.
I've been on Windows 7 x64 for around 3 months, and TB v5 works well on it as well. Some configuration matter with Chinese characters a little back, but solved with help from the support.
My AV is Kaspkersky, and previously running with Avira.

Admittedly, I am not an expert at using the "advanced features" - my concerns are receiving, sending and backup.

As I have posted before, using TB 5.0.24 on W7 Ultimate 64 with a mixture of POP and IMAP accounts I have not encountered any issues which I had not seen in TB v4 (ie language switching). I never have any of the errors reported with opening, closing, memory etc which have been reported and everything else - sending, receiving, filtering and templates works fine.

I guess I am one of a small minority of satisfied users who bothers to post and say that they don't have problems but I assume that the satisfied represent the vast majority users. If this were not the case, then the forum would be inundated with complaints.

This makes me wonder what are the causes of the problems that are encountered by the minority. Assuming they are a minority effectively rules out the windows version as a cause so it would seem that the most likely causes are either a corrupt installation of TB, or some other SW on the PC (most likely firewall/AV/antispam).
But I think the problems with v5 are actually with v5 itself, not necessarily with Windows 7 or 64-bit OS. That's based on the various messages I've read. I haven't tried v5 myself, simply because it sounds like so many people still have problems with it.
I currently have 4.0.24, but I'd like to upgrade to 5.x if there aren't any serious issues with it under Win7 x64.
Dale,

It might depend on which version of The Bat you use. I can tell you that I've been using 4.0.38 on my Windows 7 x64 system, and I haven't run into any problems so far. I'm also just using POP, not IMAP. It doesn't mean you won't find problems. It just means that I, at least, haven't seen any.
Hi,

I've been using (and loved) The Bat! for many years now. I've just migrated to Win7 64-bit edition and some posts here in the forum seem to indicate it may have issues running under the 64-bit system... I'd appreciate anyone who could elaborate on what kind of problems are encountered, etc. if they haven't been resolved yet. I only use The Bat! for POP mail, so IMAP support isn't important to me, but I do rely heavily on its excellent filtering capabilities and it's great multi-account support.

Thanks for any feedback!
