I thought would have effect during compacting messages, in shutdown stage. Whatever, I keep the default option, attachments in message body.

Thank your reply
It has no speed advantages either way.
It does save some space to store the attachments separately. How much depends on the size of your attachments and the cluster size of your hard disk.
The most common problem with attachments stored separately that I heard of was that sometimes the link between message and attachment gets broken.
You can't store attachments in a special directory when you're using an encrypted message base. (pro version only)

Personally I've never been tempted to use a special directory for attachments.
Hi,

I'm trying The Bat Mail for a couple of days. Just I want to know something regarding attachments files.

1. By default, The Bat comes with option: "Keep attaches files in message body". If I'll choose next option "Separately in a special dir." does it have any benefit? I mean any affect on program speed (startup/shutdown), size of directories etc. Because I've a lot of mails and many mail directories, each of them in size of 300-400MB.

2. If I choose “Separately in a special dir.", what will happened with old mails which have attachments in their body? Is there any way to filter these mails, in order their attachments can populate the main Attach directory?

Thanks
