Dear Carley,

I'm not Ritlabs, I'm just a user of The Bat!, just like you. (See my signature)
This is a user to user support forum, not Ritlabs' helpdesk.
How you were supposed to know that * expands everything, well maybe because that's what it does in every window in TB
What is the connection between a shortcut and a menu item?
Don't expand the list.
At the listing the main form starts with 'Main Menu', and that has entries for message, specials, etc

Please read this carefully:
It has no use to sort all shortcuts, there is no shortcut that works everywhere in TB, you can define the same shortcut for different functions depending where you've got the focus.
Open a new message and go to customize to get the shortcuts for THAT window. For me the send now is right near the top and is already assigned by default to CONTROL ENTER. you can add to that or change it if you wish
Dear Ritlabs,

That's just not good enough. Listing and sorting are precisely what I have a computer for.

1. I can't export the contents of the expanded "Customise --> Shortcuts" window as a .csv file so that I can sort it with Excel.

2. I can't even get the contents of the expanded "Customise --> Shortcuts" window out as text file.

3. I can't even copy even a single line of the expanded "Customise --> Shortcuts" window to a text file or speadsheet.

4. Nor can I search for say "Send" or "Ctrl+E" on the 17-screen page.

That means that I will have to get out pen and paper, copy down 17 screenfuls of shortcuts and their meanings, including their context, and then order the list myself. Am I then intended to maintain an Excel spreadsheet of all my changed shortcuts? The Bat! is supposed to be designed for people who have some confidence with computers.

Compare Directory Opus, whose "Customise" menu lists all its current shortcuts in alphabetical order.

Could you please assure me that this will be fixed in the next version of The Bat!
- - - - - - - -

5. What is the relationshsip between the menu items at the top of the message list:
" Message" "Specials" "Folder" "Account " "Toolds" "View" "Options" "Help"
and the list given in "Customise --> Shortcuts"? I can't for the life of me figure out what the logic is in the "Customise --> Shortcuts" list.

6. To give one very specific exmaple: When I am editing a letter, the very first menu item is "Message --> Send Now", but I cannot find that "Send" item and its shortcut anywhere on the "Customise --> Shortcuts" lists.

I have been using The Bat! for some years now, and studying the customisation options repeatedly, but I simply cannot figure out what is going on with the customisation menus. I do believe that The Bat! needs a large amount of Tender Loving Care to make it more easily usable and closer in its conventions to the majority of modern software programmes.

By the way, how was I supposed to know that * was the code to expand all the submenus?
Go to customise -> shortcuts and press *
That will expand all items, so the shortcuts are visible without clicking all items.
There is no function that shows you shortcuts only
Apart fr om that, the shortcuts are context sensitive. You can define the same shortcut multiple times. Once for the message list, once for the account tree pane and once for the message editor. TB will check wh ere you've got the focus and then use the appropriate shortcut. Shortcuts for the message list won't work when when you're editing a message, doesn't matter whether that same key combo is used for the editor or not.
I want to reconfigure The Bat!'s keyboard shortcuts for my own convenience. But I don't want to overwrite a keyboard shortcut that is already configured for something else.

Where can I find a list of *all* keyboard shortcuts, sorted in alphabetical order?

If I go to Customise --> Shortcuts, I can click through all teh menus and write them all down --- but surely this is not what computing is all about.

Customise --> Shortcuts --> Shortcut Collection --> mTestFeature seems to indicate that Shift+Ctrl+Alt+T would yield all shortcuts, but nothing seems to happen from this command.

Ver 5.1.6.2
