The only way to prevent TB from storing sent mail in a folder is by creating an outgoing filter that deletes all outgoing messages. As this delteting will happen after they're sent, the result will be that TB doesn't store local copies.

Is there a way to disable the copying of a message to the Sent Items folder?

By unchecking the option for pre-determined folders, a second folder is created and messages are stored there.  I don't want TB to copy sent mail anywhere, as it's handled by my SMTP server.
