I don't use Kaspersky, but I have had trouble with other virus programs that scan each message. I have never had a problem WITHOUT that being turned on

OK, Kaspersky didn't slowdown my other email clients, but disabling a selection of features clears this problem. Any suggestions specifically which Kaspersky feature would slow down Bat email collection?

I'm using v5.3.8, but it is very slow in downloading incoming email, I'm currently downloading a 7Mb message and it achieved 290Kb in over an hour. Various other email clients worked on this system without problems. I've no Bat add-ons installed. Suggestions?
