Go to Options > Preferences > Attachment security
In the second row "Allow opening of these files without any alert" add *.DOC or *.PDF

I realise there is a good reason for TB to warn me everytime I get mail with a doc or pdf or what have you attachment, but the warnings annoy me.

Is there a way to stop TB doing that? Especially with trusted correspondents?
