I had the same issue less than a month after installing the ver. 7 upgrade (it may have occurred earlier but I didn't notice until now).

The issue for me was that the mailto protocol (which calls the default email program) was missing from the registry. I don't know if a Windows Update or something else is to blame, but it is NOT TB!

1. Open the Registry Editor (click on the Start button then enter regedit in the search bar. When regedit.exe appears in the search results, right-click it and select Run as administrator.
   
2. When the registry editor opens, expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE branch and search for Software then Classes, expanding each in turn. Now look for the mailto class (it will be after all the classes prefixed with a dot).
   
3. If the mailto entry is there, check for the string value of URL Protocol.
   
4. If mailto isn't there at all (as in my case) go back to the top of the Classes and right-click on it then select New then Key. Name the key mailto. Right-click the newly-created mailto class and select New then String Value then enter URL Protocol as the string.
   
5. You're done. Close the Registry Editor and check to see if the problem is gone. It was for me!

Hi,

Clicking mailto links on ie and Firefox causes the PC to open 30+ windows.

W7 says there's no program associated with the link.


However, the registry key's value is:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Associati­ons\UrlAssociations\mailto\UserChoice]
"Progid"="The Bat! mailto"



W7's settings: Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Default Programs

There are 3 settings.

- The Bat!  [This program has all its defaults]
- The Bat! Simple MAPI 32-bit   [This program has 1 or 2 defaults]
- The Bat! Simple MAPI 64-bit   [This program has 1 or 2 defaults]

I believe I need to remove the first 2? How do I do that?


The options are dimmed/locked when you click "Choose defaults for this program" so I cannot uncheck anything.
