How can i use Gmail POP3

How can i use Gmail POP3 in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
All,

After much trial and error - with latest TB version my GMAIL settings below
My question though is it would only work if I set Gmail to "allow less secure apps" <noindex>https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en</noindex>

Now I would have thought TB was as secure and as up to date as it gets ? Unless I have a TB setting wrong ?

smtp.gmail.com
Secure to dedicted port (TLS)
Port 465

pop.gmail.com
Secure to dedicted port (TLS)
Port 995
Did you include "recent:" (without quotes) in front of your login email address/name? It needs to be there or only email that has not been viewed anywhere or anytime before will not download.

I'm using a computer that doesn't have TB installed so I can't be sure of the actual details where to put that, but I think it's the login email address.

Also, be sure to make sure you have deletions set the way you want or you could be deleting in TB and not be aware it'll also delete in Gmail online.
Not The Bat, but may be relevant. My gmail email account stopped working a week or two back with another client (K9) and eventually I found that in my gmail account settings, mail retrieval had been set to imap only and I had to change it to pop3.

Just to clarify, I mean in the account settings when you log into your gmail account via a web browser, not the account settings in an email application.
TB thinks you want to connect via IMAP per the Receive mail section. I don't know of any way to change that once it's set up as IMAP so I suggest you start over and create a new account.

After you enter your name, email, and password click on Advanced at the bottom of the screen and click on the POP3 radio button. You should also set up the server names and ports. I noticed your Send section is not a TLS port (you have 25 and it should be 465).

I hope that's helpful.
Yes, you can use Gmail POP3 or any POP3 account you have.

Here's the settings I have for Gmail:
mail server (receive mail): pop-gmail.com
Connection to dedicated port (TLS), port 995
smtp server: smtp.gmail.com, port 465

You'll also have to be sure to enable POP mail in your Gmail account if you haven't already done so.

Since I use connection to my Gmail account from a number of different devices I put "recent:" (without quotes) in front of my email address (User) to be sure to download all mail even if read on another device.
