Do you have an AntiSpamSniper plugin? If yes, try to uninstall it to see whether it makes any difference.

I am using the latest version of The Bat (8.2.8 64 bit) on Win 8.1 Pro x64 with no problems at all.

This would probably work: Put " /nologo" (without the quotes) at the end of the commandline with which The Bat is launched. You can do this by going into the Properties of your The Bat shortcut, and editing the Target.

I have have tried the 2 versions of The Bat! ver. 8 on my Windows 8.1 system with both failing to work .
The application opens and shuts down almost immediately or goes directly into a hidden state.
I also reinstalled Windows 8.1 just to see if that would help.
No luck there.

So I went back to ver. 7 and this is stable on Windows 8.1
