You confused the issue by stating you couldn't customize toolbars (which was not the issue - you wanted to modify aspects of content) and that it was impossible to write a new message (when what you meant was that you could write text, but not HTML text).

found the "problem":

Default editor for text was "plain text"

Only if it is on "HTML" the "Formatting" toolbar is available. I do not know what the default setting was but now everything works as expected!

I've had a similar problem where my formatting toolbar was unexpectedly reduced to a much smaller set of icons. Maybe I had shrunk the size of the editor window in a previous session, and the program had somehow remembered the shortened toolbar. Anyway: assuming the toolbars aren't locked and your editing window is large enough, you should be able to simply drag the divider bars between toolbars to make them larger and smaller, or drag them to a secondary line to make room for more toolbars, and hopefully that will make the formatting tools visible again. When done, lock the toolbars to keep them from reverting back.

That empty line is probably your Formatting toolbar, shrunk to its minimum size. Try dragging that line to the right and see if something appears (be sure the toolbars haven't been locked).

Well, I'm not sure if I can assist, since I use Win 7, but maybe with some more info someone can assist. As I understand it, TB! was working fine until you upgraded to Windows 10. True? And you tried version 8.2.8 and had same results. True?  Please give explicit menu you're having trouble with, starting from main tool bar. I'm not sure I'm looking at the right place. Knowing the exact menu item should be helpful. Thanks,

Hi David,

I did as suggested but failed! The same problem as described above. If I click on the toll "Formatting" only an empty line beyond the other toolbars opens up but no icons, nothing.
I is impossible to edit text, choose font tpe or size although the tools are all in the customizng menue under "formatting".

Anbody else knos about this bug?

We have been using TheBat for ages but it is the first time with a major problem.

I suggest you download the latest version, 8-2-8, and see if that works. My guess if that your version was released prior to Windows 10 and you may need an upgrade.

Since installing TheBat on  WIN 10 system I cannot customize the toolbars in the "new message" area. "standard", "security", "edit" I can switch on and off but "formatting" just does not show up! Tha makes writing a new message impossible.

I checked for the customize menue , all desired entries are there, so what is the problem?
This problem exists with version 6.8.8. 64bit.
