Okay - finally got a reply from support on this:

Please  try to sign into your Google account and in the "Privacy\Sign-in  &  security\Apps with account access" section remove "The Bat! v7"  from  the list of applications. Then try to receive mail in The Bat! and   allow the access.

The problem (or perhaps the result of the problem) appears that it is not closing the connection to the Gmail server.

We're all in the same boat. I have had a ticket in to support for 4 days and no response. I have an unusable mail client, with the Gmail problem as well as other problems - it will not run for more than about 15 minutes at a time before crashing.

Really, really, really inexcusable lack of response. Mail is a pretty important thing. My clients would be crucifying me if their mail was inaccessible!

I had the same issue. After restarting the computer the gmail sign-in issues seemed to stop. I am able to check the gmail account (in addition to about 30 other imap accounts).

It's very frustrating, isn't it? I kept allowing it 20-30 times and restarting TB! 4-5 times and logging into gimail website and it finally 'took'...  So, I have no solution and you're not alone in this frustration. Good luck.

Ever since this newest upgrade to v8.3, I keep getting the window that The Bat! wants to: read, send, etc., my email; manage contacts; view my basic profile.

Even though I allow this, the window pops up again and again and again and again...each time less than a minute later.

Now it looks like The Bat! isn't pulling message from Gmail's server at all.  I've got three that are just sitting there as I manually check the Gmail site, even though I've told The Bat! to get all mail.

As often as it's happening, it doesn't seem like it's some configuration change I might have made by mistake.
