Folders Vanish from Mail Box

Folders Vanish from Mail Box Windows 7 The Bat Professional 7.4.4 Account does not show folders, still on disc drive in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
Problem seems to have been the ACCOUNT.FLB file has become corrupted. The Bat is capable of rebuilding this.

After renaming file (effectively making it invisible to The Bat) changes, including re-adding the existing folders appears to take.
This configuration has run successfully, through various versions of The Bat since about 2001. I've had 7.4.4 running a couple years and suddenly it can't remember where it left its keys. Help on that front would be better than concern over the file path. Thanks.
That's a strange situation... "Program Files (x86)" is usually located on C: but if this is your actual Program Files folder, it's unsuitable for storing your mail because Windows 7's user access control (UAC) should not allow programs to even write in that folder. Under Options | Preferences | System, you could specify a different mail directory (e.g. F:\MYMAIL) and recreate your account to see if things work better there.
Particulars:
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
The Bat! Professional Edition Version 7.4.4 (64-bit)

Worked fine, closed client, opened again later and about a dozen folders under an account vanished.

Exploration of F:\Program Files (x86)\The Bat!\MAIL\DSL\Inbox

Shows the folders are still on disc, each contains MESSAGES.TBB and MESSAGES.TBN files

If I Create New Folder of same name response is "The directory specified seems to be already used by other folder. Do you still want to use this directory?"

Yes response brings back folder with all of its contents. If I exit The Bat and launch again the folder has disappeared again.
