1) IDLE and 2) folder layout in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
We are in 2006.
Is the IMAP IDLE now implemented in The Bat?
fastmail.fm is an example of an account with push email support.

I think that push email is a really innovative feature and by the way Thunderbird supports it.

IMAP IDLE Command:

Briefly, it enables the IMAP server to send new mail notifications to the client... in real time. This is how Outlook/Exchange server work if you've ever used them.

Short description:
<noindex>http://email.about.com/od/emailbehindthescenes/g/imap_idle.htm</noindex>

Defined in RFC 2177
<noindex>http://www.networksorcery.com/enp/rfc/rfc2177.txt</noindex>

The only client I can find that supports IDLE, is Thunderbird. I like TB, but it lacks many features I want. I only use it because of it's superior IMAP (IDLE) implementation.

If you guys could install IDLE support in The Bat!, I bet you would get a lot of TB converts.

--cheers
Whenever I tried IMAP, TB always got the folder location from the server, whether they were subfolders to another folder or whether they were account level folders, so maybe you created them as subfolders for your inbox?

I don't know about the IDLE command.
I am trialling The Bat! using an IMAP account (fastmail.fm) and have these questions for more knowledgable forum members.

Does The Bat! support IDLE and if so how does one "turn it on"?

How does one organise The Bat! so that all the folders appear under the account name and not as subfolders of the inbox?

Any help would be appreciated.

Jeff Kogler
