MSI files are Microsoft Installer files, prevalent on Windows XP. Tou will need to download the supporting tools from the Microsoft web site to use them on early versions of Windows.

You probably need the Windows Installer Runtime, a Windows component needed to install .msi package

I have had to reformat my harddrive and am trying to reinstall TheBat on my older Win95 PC, but am unable to open any MSI files. What's a MSI file and why can't I open it?
