Before I get that message I get a few minutes of:

Status: Deleting message #nnnn

================================

The deleting message numbers are getting higher, around 5,000, then start lower.
Although the total numbers do not really go down.

Maybe it is choking on trying to delete already downloaded messages.
Maybe I will hand delete old messages that are in the AOL mailbox.

================================

PROBABLY BEST SOLUTION:

Leave AOL servers
<noindex>https://lifehacker.com/can-you-switch-isps-without-losing-your-email-address-1836075089</noindex>
Hi,

I am running TheBat! 7.4.2 on Windows 10 on a Verizon.net account that is now hosted at AOL.
It had been working seamlessly for a good while.
Two other Verizon-AOL accounts, smaller, seem to be ok, maybe.
Any idea what would be:
Connection to host broken (last commands sent were: "RETR 9995", "RETR 9996")

CONNECTION CENTER
receiving mail messages
Connecting to POP3 server pop.aol.com on port 995
Initiating TLS handshake
Certificate S/N: 03000AD37B367050C22EC51A5FA246B0, algorithm: RSA (2048 bits), issued from 5/12/2020 to 11/8/2020 12:00:00 PM, for 8 host(s): pop.aol.com, pop.aim.com, pop.mcom.com, pop.goowy.com, pop.tunome.com, pop.angeliamail.com, pop.csi.com, east.us.pop.aol.com.
Owner: "US", "California", "Sunnyvale", "Oath Inc", "pop.aol.com".
Issuer: "US", "DigiCert Inc", "<noindex>www.digicert.com"</noindex>;, "DigiCert SHA2 High Assurance Server CA".
