Using the plain text message editor

Using the plain text message editor in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
Update: I've fathomed out how to do this now. The problem I was having was a conflict between The Bat! and another program (MW Snap) with the hot keys. I have now discovered that if I click on one of the little icons at the bottom of the message editor it achieves the same result (i.e., turns off autoformat) and doesn't conflict with MW Snap.

Using the plain text message editor in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I have briefly read the section of the help file that explains about the difficulty of adding extra lines to existing paragraphs. If I understand it correctly, there is a way to override this to allow for insertion of extra lines, but I cannot get it to work. As a workaround, I have changed to HTML format when I need to add extra lines, but if it is possible to temporarily override the default behaviour, could someone explain how to do it in simple, step by step instructions. Thanks in advance.
