Thanks, so far it's still working as-is. Not familiar with the AOL/Compuserve model but I'm hoping if Yahoo does stop working as set up here, it will be easy to fix.
Like AOL/Compuserve, they offer you the option to generate an app password. That's a password that you'll only be using with one particular application, in this case The Bat. You'd replace your current password in The Bat with that newly generated password, and that should solve (well, avoid) the problem.

New Yahoo sign-in method? in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I've been getting nagging emails from Yahoo about some new sign-in method for accessing my account. On my phone I'll just use the Yahoo app, but I'd like to keep using The Bat! for this on my notebook.

I won't quote the entire email here (unless it would be helpful) but it starts:

====quote====
As of 20 October 2020, Yahoo Mail will no longer support third-party applications (such as third-party email, calendar, or contact applications) using outdated sign-in methods.

=============
though it's still working now (Oct 20/20, 2pm EDT). Perhaps there's no change needed to this account in The Bat!, but does anyone have details on what might be needed? I can't figure out what they're saying (other than use their website). Here's the relevant help page <noindex>https://en-global.help.yahoo.com/kb/new-mail-for-desktop/SLN27791.html?impressions=true</noindex>

Thanks.
