[an] works fine in my TB v8.8.2 32b, with both html and plain text messages. Hopefully a user of your specific version will chime in too.

TB 9.3.2 64-bit:
Is the "Regular Expression" option in the "Find text" (Ctrl+F) dialog box supposed to work?  When I use even the simplest Regex expression, such as a|n or [an] to search for occurrences of the letters a or n in a message, it finds nothing.  Does TB expect some non-standard Regex syntax?  If so, is it documented somewhere?
