Cache on disk

Cache on disk in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I am involved in translation of The Bat! interface, but not into French. However, I see the French interface file is dated on June 2017, and no activity on it is performed since that time. I think only contact with Ritlabs can help.
No, unfortunately I'm not aware of a way to translate interface items.
It is also possible that it is a leftover from an older version. I upgraded from 4.2.44 to 8.8.9. Otherwise, I read my mails in plain text and rarely activate the html (which is set like you -> TB viewer). The main thing is that removed, the cache folder does not seem to penalize TB.

A little unrelated question: do you know if it is possible to modify translations in the TB interface? I have 8.8.9 and some items are not translated into my language at all (French).

Thank you
Interesting! Maybe we're getting somewhere.

Under Options | Preferences | Viewer/Editor | HTML Viewer, I have "download embedded images from external sites" set to "never".

And on the same settings page, I have "Use The Bat! HTML viewer" activated.

I suspect that having a different setting there could explain why you have that cache folder and I don't.

A third setting that, in theory, might be causing this is if you are storing attachments externally as files instead of in the messagebase, but the folder name 'Cache' would seem less fitting for that. It is configured under Account | Properties | Files & Directories | Keep Attachment Files.
I moved the cache folder with its contents out of TheBat folder and it seems ok. The opening and closing are, it seems to me, faster. I opened some files from the cache (without extension) and it seems to me that they are image files (gif, png). All very curious...Thank you.
Good for you :-b

But I have no idea what else that Cache folder could be..! I use TB v8.8.2 (32b) and I have no such folder.

Maybe you should just make a backup of your The Bat and Mail folders, delete the Cache folder, and run The Bat to see if it still works
Hi Daniel,
I have never had an IMAP account since my first installation of TB (2009).
Probably an IMAP cache? I don't have any IMAP accounts, myself, but I think you can flush their caches from within The Bat. I'd try right-clicking on an IMAP account in the tree panel, and see if there is such an option under Properties.
Hello,

On my hard drive, I have a TheBat\cache folder (3000 files for 70MB) and whose most recent file dates from 2021. What is this folder for and can I delete everything to save space? Thank you.

TB 8.8.9, windows 7
