I did report it, and the place to get relief is close: Options | Preferences | Viewer/Editor |"Viw plain text messages using". Change from Rich Text / HTML Viewer to Plain Text Viewer. This is fine for me, and I was not previously aware of the option. Of course, it's still a bug in the Rich Text Viewer, but that won't affect me for the foreseeable future.
You could have a look at "Options | Preferences | Viewer/Editor | Profile Layout" and then see if you notice anything strange about the items named 'Quotation prefix' (odd and even) -- but it does sound more like a bug to me, that you may want to report to the developers so they can fix it (See the Support menu near the top of this page).
When they reply, with quoted text prefixed by greater-than signs, TB does not display the prefix, and I have to figure out what's quoted and what's new from context.

As an example, in a message a received a few minutes ago, the last header and start of message in the source are

===========================
Content-Type: text/plain

On Sat, Dec 2, 2023, at 2:33 PM, Edward Reid wrote:
> Yep, that's an HDMI connector.
