well, that's clearly the spot for changing the default behaviour... but how could I activate the HTML editor for a single reply? I thought that was what you found first?!

does this mean, you found a method to activate HTML for a single reply after opening it? well, THAT'd be exactly what I was looking for some time ago (and didn't find it - to be clear: I will not have HTML for 99.9% of my mails, but would like to change into the HTML editor from within a special reply once a year or so
