You have an answer. Don't have a money and time for your own mail server - forget it about privacy. Live with that.
If I was a Russian/American spy do you think I would make such a post?
Do you think Russian/American spies are fearful?
Think about it.

I heard many people gravitate to Proton mail because it promises anonymity.
Whether that's true or not is another matter. Maybe you could educate me
about this if you know?

It's not that I have paranoid thoughts. If you don't know that Gmail is in bed with the three-letter agencies
it's time you learned about it.

None of your 'private' e-mail will go unread by Google.
My original questions still stand.
Are you Russian or American spy? What do you really fear?

>> (Proton mail?) that will guarantee total privacy?
Why do you think that Proton guarantee to you 100% of privacy?

You can always kill your paranoid thoughts with your own mail server. It costs money and time.
Here the names of: MDaemon, Kerio Connect, MS Exchange, IceWarp, BatPost, etc etc etc...
<noindex>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Message_transfer_agents</noindex>

Gmail/Yahoo and The Bat

Gmail/Yahoo and The Bat in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I just read a post here about trying to fix The Bat to log into Gmail and that got me thinking.

I have shunned web-based e-mail for more than decades for two reasons.

1. There are so many more positives to using a third-party app like The Bat over
Web interface e-mail. The features you have at your disposal with The Bat runs circles
around anything you get with Gmail or Yahoo etc.

2. Privacy. I was always under the assumption that using a third-party app with e-mail stored on
your computer is much more private than having your e-mail stored on the cloud somewhere.

But now I'm not so sure anymore.

For example, my ISP (Rogers) cut a deal with Yahoo many years ago wrt e-mails.
Although I use The Bat almost exclusively, I also have the option of logging into

Rogers/Yahoo e-mail on the web and reading/sending e-mail there.

Before the two companies cut their deal many years ago I assumed my e-mails
were being stored on Rogers' servers.
Now it's very likely that my e-mail is stored on Yahoo's servers.

If that's the case, so much for my e-mail privacy. Sure I can download my e-mail
to The Bat and delete it from the server (using The Bat's settings), but how likely
is it that the e-mail is was either scanned when it arrived at Yahoo or was saved
somewhere else?

The same questions for Gmail? If I set up The Bat to download my Gmail messages how likely
would it be that the e-mail is was either scanned when it arrived at Gmail or was saved
somewhere else on another Gmail server?

Does anyone know the answers to these questions?

Can The Bat be used with any other web-based system (Proton mail?) that will
guarantee total privacy?
