I think I fixed the problem.
I did it in two stages.

First I unplugged the ethernet cable to my computer to prevent messages from being downloaded.

Then I added a Selective Download Filter:
 Sender: does not contain "Ghost"
 Action: Ignore and mark as read

Then I plugged in the ethernet cable to my computer.
This allowed me to fire up The Bat and not have it download any of the 1000's of messages.
I know it worked because I saw it scan more than 4700 messages!

Then I put on my thinking cap and tried to figure out how to just download messages from the last few days.

I created a new filter in each of my accounts:
Add Filter:  'Three Days'
Condition:  Age: is less than 3 days
Action: Move to folder: \Inbox

I also removed the Selective Download Filter.
I probably could have skipped the first stage, but at least by using it I saw there were 4700 more messages
waiting to be downloaded.

Yes it could be downloaded at night but ....

1. I don't need/want those extra gigs of downloads
2. I don't know how to set it up so ALL the e-mails are delivered to a separate folder

I mentioned I don't need the extra gigs, because my main computer has already downloaded all of these e-mails.

How do I tell The Bat to deliver mail addressed to a specific e-mail address to another 'address/folder'?

AFAIK TB! Don't have such a feature like AquaMail for Android have. Ask a support about adding feature. But I do prefer to have all letters through years with some archive folders by years (TB folders on HDD not it on a server side). Night to download and move them then.

OK I am setting up a second computer with The Bat.
My ISP has a mind of its own, or The Bat isn't set up properly,
but The Bat wants to download every single message from months ago from
each of my e-mail accounts. We are talking 1000's of e-mails.

I let it do its thing, with me manually deleting messages as they arrived, but I'm getting tired of it.
And it's still only up to Jan/Feb of 2025!

How can I tell The Bat to stop downloading the e-mails?
And somehow tell it to just download new e-mails from the past couple of days?
And then download only new e-mails?
