Linux is technically much more doable.

Newer versions of TB rely heavily on CEF not just for displaying HTML messages, but for implementing large parts of the program in JavaScript, like the conversation view, calendar, new address book interface, etc. And who knows what else the devs have planned for upcoming versions.
The topic of Wine+TB came up recently, see this thread: <noindex>https://www.ritlabs.com/en/auth-forums/forum4/topic16656/</noindex>

There are reports of the newest versions of TB running fine under Wine, so it should be doable.

I`ve managed to port thebat over to Linux/Mint/Cinnamon v22. Using wine version 10. I`m running the latest version of thebat v11.4.3 64bit. It starts all ok it looks good. If I import all my folders/emails/settings from my thebat backups. It’s all still looking good.

(I was on Windows 10 on original thebat)

Now that’s when it all changes

Now when I click on one of my emails an error come up saying `Program Error` saying in thebat64.exe

In the wine debugger it says ` WineDbg attached to pid 011c

Now I’ve tried it with thebat 32bit also with thebat v9.5.1 it’s the same error.

I even started from scratch and put my email account details from new. I made an email to send via Gmail when I clicked on it to view the email it comes up with the same error and closes down thebat.

So it has nothing to do with my old emails/folders/settings

It’s a shame thebat don’t do it on Linux I don’t understand why they don’t. The more platforms the more money for them also more chance of people using thebat if they know they can port it over easy to other platforms
