I don't think it's a bug. This is a completely unreported problem, either on this forum or on the TBUDL or TBBETA support mailing lists.

This means to me that either you've done something wrong somewhere along the way or a setting has become (somehow) corrupted.

If you are familiar with using RegEdit, you could check the HKCU/Software/RIT/The Bat!/AddressBookProfilePath
and AddressBookProfilePathRelative keys. Both are blank on my system. What are they on yours?

Perhaps it would help if you were to take a full TB backup (all accounts and mail folders). Copy TheBat.ABD to a safe place then uninstall TB. Reinstall it from scratch and then restore from the backup. Finally, copy the ABD file back into the mail TB mail folder.

It's all a bit odd really.
I feel it I cannot solve the problem I believe that it must be a BUG of TB
All of these files are your address book ... at least, the data files that contribute to it. TB has been told to use an address book on your desktop.

The dates on these files are always the current date because every time you run TB, it uses these files. If the files are removed TB will simply create new / empty ones.

To cure this, you must copy the files to your TB program folder, run TB, open the Address Book in TB, right-click on the "Personal Address Book" entry on top line of the folder tree and select "Properties" from the menu. Click the "Change" button and navigate through the system folders to the TB folder to which you copied the various ABD and LDAP files. OK the changes.

That should correct this problem for you.

As to why it started happening ... I can only guess at "finger trouble".
What surprises me is the file name: ADDRBOOK1.INI over here it's called ADDRBOOK.INI (without the 1)

It looks like you've got restricted access to the directory with your address books. That could be that your Windows user account you're running TB from has limited rights in that directory. It could also mean that you've restored your TB setup from CD and forget to uncheck the read-only flag for (some of) those files.
In my folder of email they appear indicated archives ABD and also file ADDRBOOK1.INI
These archives have date of 2004, if I erase them and them replacement by whom there is in my writing-desk the problem persists:
Archives ABD of the Desktop continue appearing the archives in my Desktop
When I restart TheBAT When erasing this files disappears my folder of directions.
They shouldn't appear on your desktop. Could you check whether they are also still in your mail directory? In that case you can delete them from the desktop. When they can't be found in your mail directory, move them from your desktop to your mail directory.
