I got this to work, but there are some caveats. First, if you have your Eudora mail in other than the default directory (which I did), The Bat! won't be able to find it. It will, however, bring up a dialogue box so that you can navigate to the Eudora folder where your mail is kept and show The Bat! where it is. The Bat! will then present a selection list of all your Eudora mailboxes from which you can choose the ones you want to import. The Bat! will also allow you to select the target folder(s) where you want the imported mail to be placed; it can also create new folders for you.

During the import process The Bat! creates a series of temporary files, apparently one for every message that's imported. In my case (under Windows XP) they were created in the user profile, i.e., the \Documents and Settings\user directory. The file names are in the format BATnnnn.tmp, where nnnn is a sequential hexadecimal number. This naming scheme allows for a little more than 65,000 messages to be imported and here is where I hit a snag because I was importing a little more than twice that many.

In my case, The Bat! was not deleting the temporary files after they were used. So, not only did I have tens of thousands of additional temporary files on my hard drive, but when BATFFFF.tmp was reached the import process stalled with the CPU churning at 100%. The fix was easy enough (after I figured it out), I simply ran a delete (del /S BAT*.tmp) from a command prompt and the import process was "kick started" again. Several hours later, once the process was complete, I ran a final delete to clean up my hard drive.

Other than the above and the fact that the process is relatively slow, the import went fine. I got all the e-mail transferred that I needed, along with all of the original attachments.

I recently imported a Eudora message base (MB) not in Eudora's default locaqtion into TB! Support was of little help -- and TB! import wizard does not allow you to simply *tell* it where the data is. So to do so, I had to copy the entire MB back to the default location in:

/Program Files/Qualcomm/Eudora

I first made a zipped copy of that entire folder (with subfolders), then I copied the Eudora MB back into that directory. I ran the TB! message import wizard, which did find the files. I imported each message folder one by one. When I was done, I deleted the entire Eudora folder (with subfolders), then unzipped the backed-up one (using folder names) back into the Eudora folder. Voila, Eudora back to normal and TB! with all the email.

I believe it retained the read/unread information (I'm not sure -- I've since changed a lot of that), but did not retain Eudora label (color) information.

The address book must be imported separately.

TB is able to recognize Eudora message base, but I don't know whether there are any quirks. Can't you select the folders manually?
And if not, can you (in Eudora) export the messages to a format that TB supports better. (OE or Unix database)

Securebat is an encryption enhanced version of TB v1/v2. In v3 the decision has been made to discontinue Securebat as a separate product, the features are to be added to the pro version. This hasn't been done yet, as there are other issues that have to be finished by Ritlabs.

Hello

I tried to contact sales/support from over 10 days but I received no reply so I am trying here.Hope to receive a reply at least here !

Well , I am trying latest version of The Bat . I am trying to import Eudora messages from

C:\Programmi\Qualcomm\Eudora\dream  folder , which contains over 30 subfolders
and over 10000 messages .

But, as it seems, the bat is importing only 3 or 4 messages outside of  \dream folder
as it seems it gets only default folders on C:\Programmi\Qualcomm\Eudora

Is it possible to import all messages and folders from C:\Programmi\Qualcomm\Eudora\dream ?
Will be able The bat to recognize also the "read" "unread" status of my over 10000 emails ?

Another question . Secure Bat is the same thing of The Bat professional plus encryption ,
or it's another program with less features of professional ?
