when was the last time you defragmented your HD?

I'm running an older version (I think 1.62) and when I shut down the Bat! I cannot do anything else on my computer, i.e. cap my connection, start another program....Also when that is happening, the system is working the harddive. Is there something that I can change there in the configuration or anywhere else I should look?
