Thanks.

OK i try your method. Not working. It seems The Bat! does not recognize the password.

I can prove it :
i just found an old folder in "G:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.XXXXXX\Application Data\The Bat! Pwd".
There was files created the 15 september 2005 including mastrkey.dat and its ikey.id/chk files.
I just copy those files into "The Bat!" installation folder, crusing the one created at the last installation.
Then, i launch "The Bat!", using - when asked - the same password i chose during the last installation of "The Bat!".
All my accounts appeared with the correct settings (They link to the wrong folder for the databases because my System drive letter changed when i reinstall XP and two drive letters couldn't be inverted).
I try import the EBB and all my messages are imported!

I repeat ... Same password. New install, do nothing. All install files, my EBB messages are correctly imported!

It smell like a nasty bug!

Lucky i found those files.

Dee
In order to reverse from encrypted to plain, you need to create a full internal backup with TB, uninstall TB, install it again and restore your backup. But at this moment that's no solution, as you need to create that backup first.

When you want to import from .ebb then you've got to be running TB with encryption and the same password as the original database. Then via TB's menu:
Tools -> Import messages -> From TB message base v2
and select every individual folder on its turn.

When you've got an account with 150 folders like I do, that a bit of a hassle. In that case, create a new account (never mind the account settings).
Close TB.
Copy from one of old accounts all subfolders with contents and the account.efb
I just tested this procedure and it works over here.

Note. For both recovery procedures it's necessary that your new installation uses the same master password as the old one.

I've made other tries. If i import from a folder outside The Bat! install folder, i get a mesage saying it can't create a new index file for the database!

Dee

EDIT : The cause of the error message - read-only flag. If removed, no emails are imported and the EBI files is always set to 20KB.
Thanks, but not working. I make a clean install, create the accounts and then either try to import or copy the databases in the accounts folders. No change.

The Bat! do not find any of my messages when EBB/EBI format is used!

Is there a tool to reverse crypting and get TBB/TBI?

Anyone has another idea or am i gonna lose 3 monthes of emails?

Dee
I workarrounded the same problem, by recreating your email accounts. After configuring the accounts I previously have, the email messages magically appeared in the folder.

It seems that the correct process is to first backup your email boxes, and then restore them in the new config.
On 10 september 2005, i upgraded to Bat!3.60. I used the new feature "Encryption" with a password.

Yesterday i reinstall Windows XP and i'm in the process to reinstall all my programs. I just reinstall The Bat! but in the latest version 3.62.

First my accounts must be recreated (i point to the correct folder) but the worst is that none of my email are shown. They are saved in EBB/EBI format. I try to import but all i got is "0 message(s) imported".

Can someone help? I still have some TBB/TBI before 10/09/2005 and they import fine. But EBB/EBI, nothing ... and i use pass-on-the-fly with the same password as before.

Is there a tool to convert EBB/EBI into TBB/TBI or something else?
