It is not possible to filter/block outgoing messages before sending. Maybe a content checking virus scanner could do something like that for you. But TB will still consider it sent.

Tried it and tested it.  Works great!  Thanks!  I saw the option before but thought it would execute before sending.

In that case, is it possible to filter OUTBOX messages before sending, in order to block an outgoing message?

Create anoutgoing filter that deletes those messages. Deleting is an action thats available for filters. Remember that utgoing filters are executed after the message has been sent.

Is it possible to either prevent a sent message from going to my SENT box (just have it go to TRASH or DELETE after leaving the OUTBOX), or can I filter the SENT box for specific messages so I can delete them?

I use a filter to automatically notify senders when I am away from the office and do not want those sent messages to reside in my SENT box.
