I'm not very familiar with Norton AV, but I think the problem might be due to the fact that gmail uses a secure smtp connection, so Norton can't intercept it.

is there a way to make norton av 2005 check the incoming and outgoing email to and from gmail? because when I'm sending email from my different account norton windows pop's up and tell's that it is scannig the email but the I send/receive email from gmail that doesn't happen...
