How many accounts do you have? It's possible that it's just one of them that's causing the problem.

To find the culprit, you go to your mail directory and copy it to a safe location.
Now you delete everything from all accounts, except the account.cfn files.
Satrt TB
Is it running fine? In that case you've got a problem with one of your accounts.
Close TB
Copy the contents of one of your Back-upped accounts to its original location.
Start TB
Is it running fine, then it's not this account that's causing the problem.
Close TB and copy another account.

Repeat this for every account, when you've found a problem account, delete it again and check the other accounts, you might have multiple problem accounts.

When you've found the preoblem account(s) you can import the messages via
Tools -> import messages -> TB messagebase v2

Onother one bites the dust. Due to a power failure I fear that I lost some data. Whenever I try to run The Bat! on Windows 2000, there's a blue screen of death.
On WinXP The Bat! crashes. So I left with several TBB and TBI files with lots of data (large files) and a lot of default TBB and TBI files.
Any way to recover this?
