for a whole account, backup the entire folder
<mail folder>\account_name\

for just messages & folders for an account, backup all the subfolders under <mail folder>\account_name\
Subfolders names correspond to folder names defined in theBat. Inside each subfolder there are 2 files
MESSAGES.TBB - that's the message base
MESSAGES.TBI - not sure what this is for, but these files are smaller so you may backup them as well

only account setting
<mail folder>\account_name\*.* ,excluding subfolders
(or exclude *.tbb *.tbi)

global settings
<mail folder>\*.* ,excluding subfolders
If I backup with an external backup program, which files do I need to backup to get just messages and folders...and which ones to get program settings
theBat built-in backup tool is not good - it's simply not reliable.
A much better and simple way is to just archive your whole mail folder, using some archiver app like WinRar.
Most archiving apps can be set to process only files modified in the last X days, so you don't have to backup again and again message bases that are already backed up and not changed since last backup.
I know this does not answer your question, but this way you'll not need to ask such questions from now on.
do not know about repair tool, but You can use tbkDigger utility, which can extract files from TBK archive and import them back.

<noindex>http://www.thebat.cz/stazeni/tbkdigger.zip</noindex>
Hi!
I'm using TB for handling about 16 accounts. Two months ago I started creating backups. First full-backups, then incremental to save time (create an Update to an existing Archive).

Three days ago my harddisk had a Problem writing data, so I had to restore my accounts to a different PC.

Most of my mails are back, but on some updates the message:"Cannot restore message base of the folder \\Seth\Amazon.com" appeared. So I tried to get all possible messages from my .tbk files back, but it seems that there is something wrong with some messages. If I uncheck the accounts, which "create this message", the other accounts can be restored without any problem.

Is there any tool to repair the .tbk files? It is no problem to miss one or two mails, but it seems that I miss on different accounts aproximatly 40 messages.

best regards
seth
