Import settings and data without backup (.TBK)

Import settings and data without backup (.TBK) Spyware Doctor has removed TB settings in Registry in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I've tried the Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L trick without success, when the focus is over the account name nothing happened. But when focus is over a folder inside an account, a dialog appears saying "0 folders found" although here comes the interesting part:
I've restarted TB... the folders retrieved "by hand" previously (through the Import TBB menu option) were not saved, then I've repeated the process (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L over an account subfolder) and it has recovered folders I've imported "by hand" (i.e. not with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+L) in my last session.

For an unknown reason, TB is not storing the data to display the mail folders. (a registry setting loss?)

If the above explanation isn't clear please let me know. I'm using Windows XP SP2 with TB 3.71.01.

====quote====
1) First I've imported the settings and then I have to create manually the folders and import the .TBB files there. i.e. TB has not recognized the folders (do I have to choose check additional account options?).

=============

When TB doesn't recognise the folders, something's gone awry. But select the account tree pane and press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-L that should do the trick.

====quote====
2) The "Browse" option when creating New Account is hardcoded to "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Datos de programa\The Bat!" instead of keeping the last choosen directory i.e. "e:\Program Files\The Bat!\Mail".

=============

That isn't as it should be either. You should be able to select whatever folder you'd like as mail directory.

What version of TB are you using and Windows version?
Thanks Roelof, I've succefully imported the settings and data.
Two things:

1) First I've imported the settings and then I have to create manually the folders and import the .TBB files there. i.e. TB has not recognized the folders (do I have to choose check additional account options?).

2) The "Browse" option when creating New Account is hardcoded to "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Datos de programa\The Bat!" instead of keeping the last choosen directory i.e. "e:\Program Files\The Bat!\Mail\".

Cheers

Import settings and data without backup (.TBK) Spyware Doctor has removed TB settings in Registry in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
You started TB and gave a master password, however, you're not using an encrypted message base (I can see that from your file names), you something went wrong.

Close TB
Start Regedit
Delete the full HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat! tree from your registry.
Close Regedit
Start TB
Tell it not to use encryption (You can also read this as "don't tell it to use encryption", the result should be the same)
Tell TB to create new accounts
First TB will ask about a mail directory, that should be the same as you used before.
Now create new accounts with the same names as your old accounts, TB will recognise the matching account directories and use those settings, filters, folders, templates, etc

The last time I did this, I didn't need to enter my account name after giving the mail directory, but I was using just one account and an encrypted message base and I don't know how relevant that is. (I'd appreciate some feedback on this.)

When your address book isn't recognised automatically, start the address book and from the menu pick:
File -> Open -> select your existing .abd file

Good hunting

I've runned Spyware Doctor and deleted some (I guess) false positive TB registry settings. After that TB required me to enter a master password and when starts there are no accounts/data anymore. :(

Is possible to recover/import account settings AND data without the backup (.TBK) files?
I have several accounts with this directory structure:

$KNOWN$\
  MESSAGES.TBI             34,595
  MESSAGES.TBB          2,279,047
accountname\
  MESSAGES.TBI             49,101
  MESSAGES.TBB          2,438,089
Inbox\
  MESSAGES.TBB          1,220,042
  MESSAGES.TBI             27,172
Outbox\
  MESSAGES.TBI            193,198
  MESSAGES.TBB          8,891,757
Sent\
Trash\
  MESSAGES.TBI             37,376
  MESSAGES.TBB            303,267
Account.CFN
ACCOUNT.FLB
ACCOUNT.LOG
ACCOUNT.M_D
ACCOUNT.M_R
ACCOUNT.RND
ACCOUNT.SRB
ACCOUNT.~FLB

I've seen the Tools -> import messages -> TB messagebase v2 option, but I'd need to import the settings as I have too many accounts.
Thanks

Matias
