Voyager Activations

Voyager Activations Changing Master Password in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.

====quote====
There is a need to change your master passworg now and then for differant reasons.
=============
Though it's generally a good idea to change your password every now and, I think it's not really necessary for Voyager. After all the idea is to have a software key / hardware key combination: your master password and your usb stick.
The master password is more a protection against your data going public after you've lost your usb stick.
When somebody really wants to get your stuff and takes the trouble of installing a key-logger before inviting you to use his pc, he'll be stealing the usb-stick as soon as possible. So periodically changing the password offers no real added protection.

====quote====
Also if you want to change, loose or get a larger USB stick, you must again re-install. Each time you do this, you use one of your limited "activations".
=============

This is a valid point. This is not my first piece of software allowing only a limited number of installs and till now none of the suppliers of that software refused to reset the counter when I asked them to. After all, a limited number is copy protection. And I really believe that Ritlabs won't refuse that unless you're installing the program unreasonable often.
Lets be real, how often do you expect to buy new usb-sticks, either because you're upgrading or losing them?

====quote====
Also, what if (worse case) Rit Labs went out of business or their servers were not available when you needed to "activate" a new install on a replacment USB stick?
=============
I guess it's hard for a company to provide for when they're not around anymore, so I won't go into that. The possibility that Ritlabs' activation server won't be online can't be excluded, after all every computer can go down even Microsoft's servers have been inaccessible. But an activation server that cannot be reached for a short time is nothing more than a nuisance, no big time disaster.

====quote====
or when your 5 activations are used up, that's it? You would wind up with a program that is unusable,
=============
As I said I don't expect it to be that way, but I'll see whether I can get the PTB to react on this

Voyager Activations Changing Master Password in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I am concerned about the limited activations of TB Voyager. There is a need to change your master passworg now and then for differant reasons. I understand that you must un-install then re-install to do this. Also if you want to change, loose or get a larger USB stick, you must again re-install. Each time you do this, you use one of your limited "activations". I believe you only have 5 activations. Also, what if (worse case) Rit Labs went out of business or their servers were not available when you needed to "activate" a new install on a replacment USB stick? I understand that it has to do with copy protection, but it seems like it could be a real problem as I have seen by other posts. Is there a way around this? or when your 5 activations are used up, that's it? You would wind up with a program that is unusable, or is this an incorrect statement? I look forward to your reply, thanks...
