Yes, that's an unfortunate (IMO) default setting for new AB groups. You can change that in the properties of the group: unselect 'Hide items if not explicitly selected'

BTW Your question reminded me that I created a new AB group this week and I couldn't remember unchecking this option. I corrected that now. Thanks.

I just inserted individuals in a new address book and then inserted a group. I then checked some individuals as being members of the group.

Their individual address book entries disappeared from the main listing, and appeared only in the group.

Is this normal and correct behaviour?

I had expected the individuals still to be listed as individuals.
