Make TB default email client... in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
1) Got to Default Programs (in Windows control panel) and turn off Outlook as the default mail client

2) Same place, under "Non Microsoft, select "the Bat!" program as the default. It won't say default what, but select it.

3) Go into your "The Bat!" program, select the account you want to be the default by clicking on it. Then go to the Account tab for that account, go to Properties, then select the General tab. On that page, near the bottom, is the check box saying "This account is the default for Mailto: URLs. Check that box, click OK at the bottoem, and you are done.

Note: I say "go to the account you want " because I have 7 email accounts set up in The Bat!. If you just have one,
no problem!
Hello again,

I had to change IE's settings, and now TB opens as the default email client. But I cannot assiciate it with mailto: and .msg

I check both options, but 1 sec later, I open the options window again, and they are still un-checked...

I can't understand, why such an advanced application cannot perform such "easy" tasks without problems...

Alexandros

PS. I am using WinXP and not Vista

If I understood this things correctly (I didn't experiment with Vista myself) you have to tell Vista about the default mail client yourself, don't let TB do that.
You know, if you tell "The Bat" to be the primary email client in Vista, it crashes. Probably a permissions problem with the registry.
Outlook surely has a similar option - first turn it off. Then open IE and click Tools - Internet options - Programs tab. Select TheBat for email, apply and save settings. Then associate TheBat again with mailto links and other stuff (from TheBat). After all this it should become default.
