Could be a Windows security issue.
Goto TB install dir and double click the .chm file.
If you see some dialog with a checkbox, un-check the checkbox and then click OK.
If there is no such dialog, try to open IE, click Tools/Internet options/Advanced, scroll down to the Security section and check the 2nd option 'Allow active content....'

If the problem still remains right-click in the empty area inside the help file (where text is supposed to appear). Select Properties to see if there is a file at all. If yes select View Source to see if the file has any content, if not it's probably a damaged or improperly compiled/linked chm.
Still an issue, even with 3.95.8

Which, I guess, means its my computer, not the program. I'm trying to figure out if its in the firewall (Sunbelt Kerio). I appreciate your uploading to rapidshare, but I don't seem to be able to retrieve the file. Now I sound like a real dunce, I guess.

Have submitted a ticket to tech support, so maybe they'll give me some pointers.
3.95.6 isn't the latest. I remember one version the help was gone. Try the 3.95.8 msi and see if that fixes it.

I have never had much luck with the search feature in the help file. Usually the answers are in there somewhere but you have to dig a bit

Did you get the one from the link I sent? What happens if you open it fron the desktop. Are teh pages still blank? If so it may not be the help file but a firewall configuration. Like I said I had a similar issue and it would not let CHM files launch HTML.
contents, index, search, favorites all show topic titles. Search even returns a list of titles. But, when I click on the titles, no info. Nada. Nothing happens.

I'm using just purchased 3.95.6

I've searched forums but don't seem to find this phenomenon. But, in configuring this new product, I could sure use the drop-down help info, rather than searching through several years' worth of forum entries.
Is it showing ANYTHING in the help windows or just blank? I had a similar problem in other programs with it showing "Page cannot be displayed" in the help file - I will spare the long story if you don't need it

I don't know where it is located on this site but here is mine
<noindex>http://rapidshare.com/files/12568280/bat-help.zip</noindex>

Please post back and let us know if that fixed it or the problem is persisting - also what version of The Bat you are using

Looking for an alternative to Eudora, I read all the rave reviews of TB and so downloaded the trial. After four or five hours trying to figure it out, I'm making some headway, but the biggest barrier is that all the help topics are blank. I pull down the drop-down Help menu, and while "Help Topics" displays a full index, contents, search, and favorites, none of these items seems to connect to any text. All I get is the index list of topics. Clicking on them returns no info.

Am I missing something? Does Help only come after you've paid? That would seem counterintuitive, since "Help" would seem to be part of a successful "trial".
