That bug has been fixed in one of the recent betas. It used to drive me nuts but I haven't had that issue for several weeks

If you aren't beta testing fear not, it will be fixed in the next release
Anyone else getting this. Its a really bad bug and is starting to make me want to use a different email client.

To summarise:

POP socket never times out, it just sometimes stalls indefinitely

When this happens, The Bat cannot be shut down. You have to manually go in and abort each socket

*** This only started happening to me since Xmas Edition was installed **

Ive uninstalled Kapersky Internet Security because I thought maybe its mail security was interfering with things. But this hasnt helped, I got the problem again today

Thanks

Ok Ive been using the connection Centre to see whats happening, and it seems two of my accounts are leaving a connection open

Or rather, they get stuck on 'Connecting To Host'.
At the moment theyve been stuck there for 45 minutes, and trying to close The Bat gives the error message (Yes / No / Abort)

The problem is not with the email server, because I have another account on that server, and while the 2 connections are stuck, I can still check that account without problems.

I hope this helps the authors fix the problem, as its quite annoying. Im also fairly sure its a problem introduced in the Xmas Edition.

It would be better if the 'Connecting To host' timed out after a reasonable amount of time, say a minute or two.

Thanks

I have the same problem, but it never used to happen before I upgraded to Christmas Edition
I've had the same problem--current Christmas version, running the Bayes spam filter--same on workstation and laptop.

The options of Yes, No, and Abort are a bit ambiguous. I'd like a Kill All Processes And Get On With Life Now button.

Great program!
I have the same problem. Sometimes the 'Connection Window' will just stay there and never quit even though it's reached 100%. Then when I try to quit out of the application it does the above and I have to force a quit via Task Manager.

I don't have any plugins installed and am running 3.95.6.
I had this problem for a long, long time. And more happening practically every time I opened TheBat.

Now I was running 3.8 version of TheBat and regula 2.2 antispam plugin and after updateing of both this MBox didn't pop up anymore.

So try to upgrade TheBat to Christmass edition and try to disable any plugins you are using and you will see if the problem goes away.

Peace
Waldemar

It sounds like the connection to your email server is remaining open for some reason. Are you using an IMAP server/account? If you view ==> show connection centre, does that display any tasks?
Hello,

I am testing Bat before purchase and have encountered a problem with closing the Bat.

Whenever I try to close and exit Bat an alert box says that there are still active tasks - I am asked if I want to exit when they are finished and my options are [yes] [No] [Abort].

If I answer yes, Bat remains open and carries on.
If I answer no, Bat remains open and carries on
If I answer abort, Bat remains open and carries on.

!!

Is there actually a way to close Bat without using a forced exit from Windows Task Manager??

System - Windows XP2 latest service packs.

Many thanks!
