Recovering encrypted message base

The password you need is what you used when you started TB.

Uninstall TB
Install TB
(In stead of these two action you can delete this tree from your registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT )
Run TB
TB will ask whether you want to run an encrypted message base, check that option
TB will ask for a master password, give the same as you used previously (if that was a mere Enter, then use that)
TB asks for a mail directory, pick the directory where you've copied your old stuff
If everything is ok then TB will recognize your old stuff.

Recovering encrypted message base

Recovering encrypted message base in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
Guys, I have a pretty big problem that has been driving me nuts all day.

I had The Bat! installed on my laptop (registered version, v3.something). I was using the program when suddenly, my display drives went screwy and Windows crashed.

Unfortunately, it won't restart, and I've lost my recovery discs. So I ended up running a Live CD of Knoppix and transferring my The Bat! mail directory over the network, to my 64 bit Windows desktop.

Anyway...

I've lost my registration code, so I just downloaded the free version of The Bat! (latest).

I created a new account with the exact same settings as the original on my laptop.

Then I tried moving the messages.ebb and messages.ebi and their associated folders over to the new Mail directory.

When I loaded TB, none of those messages showed.

I guess with the file extension, these message bases are encrypted. I had no idea. I don't know any passwords (I had an access password set on TB on my laptop, but that was simply hitting the return key).

I've tried importing into the new TB, that didn't work. I've tried all the tools I can think of. Tried viewing it plain text through Textpad, but obviously, all I got was a bunch of junk characters (being encrypted).

I'm an idiot for not backing up. I have several thousand dollars worth of customer orders stored in there that I need to process, which are all gone if I lose my mail box!

Can anybody please help me recover these .ebb message bases? If I *did* use any passwords, it will only be one of several I routinely use, so I could do trial and error.

I don't care whether I correctly import these into TB or not - even reading them plain text is fine. I just need to someone decrypt them.

Thanks!! -Lee
