The problem is definitely caused by Firefox. If you go to "Set Program Defaults" and select MSIE as the default browser, it should work. Do not put back the defaults to Firefox. Some people tell that updating Firefox to a latest version may help, but for some people it doesn't help.
I have recently had this same problem but have minimized it somewhat by unchecking the "Use DDE" option for "open" of "URL Hypertext Transfer Protocol" type in Folder Options.

I have essentially the same installation on two machines (work and home) with the same version of The Bat! on both and use Firefox as my browser. My machine at work has not experienced this problem even though it has the DDE option checked and filled in.

I say "minimized" because I still get the error occasionally but at least not every time I click on a link from within The Bat!
TB is supposed to use the registry association as it doesn't store associations by itself.
Thanks for the tip. I changed IE to default, and then back to Firefox as default, but unfortunately it didnt change anything.

In hindsight, I guess if the registry association was the problem, then 'running' a URL from Start -> Run would also invoke the same error.

try to change your default browser. For example if it's now IE, change it to Opera or Firefox. Then change it back to IE.
I seem to have a problem recently, whenever I click a hyperlink from The Bat.

If a web browser is already open, The Bat opens the url without any problems.

If I close down all browsers, and then click a hyperlink in The Bat, I get an error 'http://example.com - The system cannot find the file specified'

However in the background the browser does then open, and the URL is loaded.

This error is annoying and I cant figure out whats causing it. My machine is free from spyware, and other applications dont have this problem when launching urls.

If I go to Start menu -> Run and type <noindex>http://example.com</noindex> into the run box, it opens without problems.

Any ideas please?
