Yeah but he will download the selcted Messages and headers and so over time TB will grow.
Thunderbirds Folder with the mailbox is always around 700KB equal how much mails are on the sever.
But it seems its right TB and IMAP are a bad combination
You should disable all synchronisations in that case TB! will download only needed headers and selected messages.
To do that go to IMAP folder managment and set synchronisation to "None" for all folders.

IMAP Problem in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I just take some time to search but didnt find something, so i ask.
The Problem is i use The Bat Voyager with an IMAP Account now i take a look at my USB Drive and see that ThaBat folder is over 60MB so it downloaded all messages from server. How can i config The Bat that it handles IMAP like all the other EMail clients and elt the mails on server and didnt download they to the usb drive. Other Clients only save headers local as maximum.
Someone any idea?

Short : How can i deactivate that TheBat makes a local copy if i use IMAP
