...no, all data, gigabytes of e-mails, are gone
Not only the files deleted, but also overwitten
by new software...I could not get a single account
back. And my backups are quite old.

if there are all data on HDD, this could be registry problem? path to home directory and account names are stored there.

check tree "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!" if registry data are there, if paths are correct and accounts are there too

The folders are still there but all account
settings + emails were deleted and replaced
with default settings, 6 accouts are gone

While 2.x worked fine with large amounts
of emails 3.80 was always showing that
it had problems to handle 300k+ emails,
it took minutes to start the software

Anyway...this should never happen, 1 account
can get lost...pc crash while data are written,
file corrupted...happens
But this one means that the software tried to
access about 20-30 files when something
went wrong...sorry but this is just stupid
