Exporting messages from The Bat (including attachements) Somehow not all messages get their attachements exported. in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
That's actually a great idea!
To bad it doesn't work either. For some reason it doesn't take the attachements.
I still think the method above is the way to go.
Off course I used some external programs first before I came here, but none of them worked either.
Too bad Ritlabs hasn't build a proper export function. One that works. Or maybe it's just that my files are all screwed up. But why can I still see and use all my attachements in The Bat if that's the case?
The redirect is the only method that seems to work...
At least the attachement is included in the message.
All I need now is someone to help me one my way with a macro function I need for the situation as discribed above.
What happens when you MIME forward a message (forward the message as an attachment), will that put the attachment properly in the forwarded mssage? It will preserve the original headers in the message.

Attach lots of messages to one message and forward it to yourself. Opening one of the attached messages on receipt will give a folder view window in which all of the attached messages are visible and available for export.
No none of the attachements are locked. They are available in the bat like always but are not included in the exported file. There is a reference to them but no data itself.
I think what I will do is:
1. export al messages
2. redirect the messages to my (local) mailserver (into a dummy-account)
3. exchange all headers from 2 with the headers from 1 (to have the original header back).

To do 3 I will need to write a program.
Is it possible, by means of the macro function in the bat to automatise this?
I was thinking of the following action:
1. export a (1) message
2. redirect that same message
3. run my program
4. loop until the last message in the folder

If anyone can help me with that macro?
"Special handling" of HTML messages cannot be the reason, because it only relates to display of HTML, not to how does The Bat! store such messages.

It seems to me that the only problem can be if you store attachments not in message bodies but in the external folder, and the files in this folder can not be available for some reason, i.g. they are opened by a editor or a viewer. Can this be the case?
I am exporting to *.eml.
I wouldn't mind using other formats as long as there is a work around to get it to *.eml.
I have tried other programs but they seem to have similar problems or not to work at all.
The attachements are visible in The Bat, so the message is complete. For some reason they just don't get exported right.

After reading the forum some more I came up with an idea. It seems like The Bat has a special way of treating messages with HTML in it. Could it be that the way they handle those messages is responsible for the troublesome export feature? I also get (exported) messages with HTML in it that don't display properly.
To which format are you exporting the messages, e.g. Unix mailbox, or another format?
My problem is that when I export messages from The Bat, not all messages get their attachements included.
I know how to export messages and that works fine.
I have a sepparate attachement folder and some messages get their attachements included while exporting and others do not.
Especially forwarded messages (with or without an attachement) are a problem. Is there a solution to this problem?
Infortunately I wasn't able to find any solution searching the forumdatabase.
