Can't get Gmail or Yahoo to work! in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
Gmail works that way, if you receive your mail with Thunderbird then TB! can not receive the same email. Gmail only lets pop3 get the mail once. There are ways to reset this (in Gmail disable pop3 and then enable it again). Or you setup an IMAP account in the Bat! to grab your mails from gmail.
I have my Bat set up for Gmail just as you said above. Gmail is set for POP3, because I receive it on Thunderbird, but....I can't retrieve mail on Bat. I'm at a loss...
It has worked well for me in the past with the Bat. However follow their instructions exactly.
I don't think Yahoo supports pop3, at least the free version. As I know there is a paid one, which surely supports it.
Do you use free or paid?
If the former, it probably can't be done. If the latter, they should have detailed config instructions.
for gmail
Account properties -> Transport

Send mail
-------
SMTP server - smtp.gmail.com
Connection - secure to dedicated port(TLS)
Port - 465

Authentication - check 'Perform SMTP..' and 'Same user/pass..', the rest should be unchecked

Receive mail
--------
Mail server - pop.gmail.com
Connection - secure to dedicated port(TLS)
Port - 995
User - you@gmail.com (not only you)

Authentication - regular

Gmail works fine for me with these settings.

If I correctly remember, in order to use pop3 you should first logon to gmail.com (with a browser) and enable pop3 somewhere in the settings

Yahoo POP, I don't know

For Gmail first make sure you are allowing pop access on the web page settings

THen in the bat make sure (In Account Settings / Transport) that the connection is "secure to dedeicated port (TLS)" and that the SMTP server is set to "smtp.gmail.com" on port 465 and the POP server is "pop.gmail.com" on port 995

Also for SMTP use "regular" authentication
