Message Headers preference

Message Headers preference Can the fields' display names be edited? in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
Eight years later, I still can't edit the display names, and it's still confusing. I must have wasted an hour trying to figure out why I could not type in an obviously editable field, especially since the message in the dialog box is "you can edit the fields of the headers" etc! The fields are not editable; they should not appear to be editable, and the heading should not tell me that I can edit them.

Can't you at least give us the option to display the fields using the RFC822 names? I understand that the RFC822 names might confuse some users, but using the RFC822 names helps those of us with the knowledge to interpret them.

Edward
I can't change it here either, so that makes it bug or design.
The fact that it changes with the language interface with me still unable to edit it implies that it works as designed.
The behaviour might be called confusing, as it appears as an editable field, but can't be edited.

Whether you agree with the description 'Created' in stead of 'Date', both have something in favour. Your wish for calling it 'Sent' isn't quite according to the definition of the field as specified in RFC2822, not that I think that it's really important for TB to enforce this behaviour unto its users as far as local displays are concerned.

,----- [ extract from RFC 2822 ]
| 3.6.1. The origination date field
|
| The origination date field consists of the field name "Date" followed
| by a date-time specification.
|
| orig-date = "Date:" date-time CRLF
|
| The origination date specifies the date and time at which the creator
| of the message indicated that the message was complete and ready to
| enter the mail delivery system. For instance, this might be the time
| that a user pushes the "send" or "submit" button in an application
| program. In any case, it is specifically not intended to convey the
| time that the message is actually transported, but rather the time at
| which the human or other creator of the message has put the message
| into its final form, ready for transport. (For example, a portable
| computer user who is not connected to a network might queue a message
| for delivery. The origination date is intended to contain the date
| and time that the user queued the message, not the time when the user
| connected to the network to send the message.)
`-----

I can edit both Display this... and RFC...

It could be a bug in the latest versions (I use 3.85.03).
But as I remember theBat demo versions include a header that informs message is created with an unregistered version. So it's also possible this to be a demo restriction, so that you can't modify/delete this header. Probably a registered user of the latest version will answer.

Message Headers preference Can the fields' display names be edited? in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
In Preferences > Messages > Message Headers, if I select one of the header fields and click Edit, it looks like I should be able to edit either of the two fields in that dialog box, which are labeled "Display this header field as" and "RFC Name (...)", respectively. But I can't.

Is this a bug, or a trial-version limitation, or design?

I was hoping I'd be able to customize the "Created" field and give it the more common name, "Date". I was also hoping this name change would apply to the Message List Columns, so that instead of "Created" it would display "Date", or, if I wished, "Sent". This last wish may be fanciful, but is the former one too?

It just seems strange to me to refer to the date a message was sent as its "Created" date. I think most email programs use the term "Date" in the header displayed above a message, and the column-heading "Sent" above the message list.
