Thanks for the idea for the multiple back up files. That worked great.

Rick
My autobackup fails even if I don't change the backup location. The scheduler apparently forgets to start the backup task after a couple of days. I'm usually not using the scheduler, only for the auto backup, but I did some testing and found the scheduler to be very unreliable. I assume there is something broken with my scheduler. Is there any way to reset all scheduler settings, if there are any? I tried deleting and recreating all tasks but that didn't fix the problem.
I see. That's a good idea.
I alway forget the scheduler, which also solved my problem. I got the following solution from Support:

====quote====
What we can do is disable the auto-backup in options, delete all related tasks
in the Scheduler and re-enable auto-backup. Then set the necessary target
folder for the .tbk files.
=============

And it worked. Thanks for your help!
I didn't mean you to create a backup manually, but to create a backup via a schedule of your own making.

I'm having TB's scheduler running a schedule to create backups. But as it is more flexible than the auto backup feature with regard to naming, I cabn use macros in the backup name.
I'm using this as backup name:
D:\Mijn Backups\The Bat!\%Date="YYYYMMDD".tbk
This gives me backup names like 20070823.tbk, thus allowing multiple backups in the same directory.
Hi Roelof,

Thanks for your reply.
I already changed the path without succes. I also started with a new archive without updating an old one. I even used a new name without any success.

I know I can make manual backups every time, but since I tend to forget to make the backup, I think it's better to make it on a daily basis. (the disk is backed up on a daily basis as well).

/Jasper

Autobackup feature fails after changing backup location in forum The Bat! - Configuring the E-mail Client.
I don't use the autobackup myself, but it appears to me that you should be able to change to target at:

Options -> Preferences -> Sysyem -> auto backup / advanced -> General -> To backup file

Opties -> Voorkeuren -> Systeem -> autobackup / geavanceerd -> Algemeen -> Naar back-up bestand
(in Dutch)

My best guess would be not to use the option to update an existing archive, as that would start looking for a previous location.

Another option would be to disable the auto backup feature (like I have done) and create backups with a shedule of your own. Offers more flexibility with names too. But I had that running before the auto backup feature was implemented in TB.
Hi,

I used to make an autobackup on my d: drive, but since I removed one disk from my system, I needed to change the location to my c: drive.

But now my autobackup fails with the following message:
"Failed to write to file D:\Email Backup\Autobackup.tbk
SaveHeader The Operation completed succesfully."
(the message was translated from Dutch since I run a localized version of The Bat!)

The autobackup settings are set to c:\Email Backup\Autobackup.tbk

Can anyone please tell me how to get Auto Backup back working?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Jasper Metselaar
